Amelia Isabella

I am running the 2018 New York City Marathon on behalf of the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids and need your help to reach my fundraising goal.

Ten years ago, my oldest sister, Mandy, was killed in a bike/car accident. That summer, my other sister, Irene, convinced me to train and run the Chicago marathon in Mandy’s honor. We trained, we cried, we screamed, we laughed, but by golly did we ever pass that finish line! That race, Irene and I both ran for a charity that helps little kids who suffer from cancer.

For the past three years, I had been dreaming about running the Boston Marathon in 2018 as I turned 30, it has been 10 years since my sisfer’s death, and at the time, I was going to make it my 10th marathon.

Well... in many ways, life got in my way, for the better, and I will be running the NYC Marathon this fall as my 9th running marathon (shoutout for walking a full with my dad! This race is my 10th total).

I ran 10 years ago , fighting depression all the while allowing myself to grieve and work through my sister’s death, and I run again, fighting post-partum depression while celebrating my little boy’s life. Like I’ve said in the past and will continue to say, if you cannot afford to support me through monetary means, by all means, come clean my house, do my laundry, make me dinner, hold my baby, offer up encouraging words, share a picture that will make me laugh, reach out, I’ll love it.

In keeping with the tradition of running for kids who are struggling, this year I am running with this charity in hoping for drug free childhoods and families.

Thank you for supporting the Partnership's mission to provide resources and services to families struggling with their child's substance use.

Partners for Hope raise critical funds on behalf of the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, the only nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families struggling with their son’s or daughter's substance use. Every dollar raised on behalf of the Partnership will ensure that their free, family support resources, including a Parent Helpline , one-to-one Parent Coaches, online tools and community education programs, can reach those who need them most. Please consider donating to this fundraiser and sharing this page.
