In Memory of Michael Lenas

Georgia Lenas

Georgia Lenas

On November 29, 2017, my cousin Michael Lenas “Bunky” lost his hard-fought battle with drug addiction. This November, the day before his 33rd birthday, I will be running 26.2 miles in his honor. I will be running the TCS New York City Marathon as a Partner for Hope to benefit the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, a nonprofit organization that supports families whose children are struggling with substance use. Drug addiction does not discriminate. It affects people of all ages from all walks of life. It not only affects the person who is addicted, but everyone in his or her life. My family fought long and hard alongside Bunky, and we want to do our part to help other families facing similar circumstances. My cousin was genuine and kind, hilarious and handsome, loving and incredible. He was loved by so many, and his memory lives on in our hearts every day.

In his honor, I will be raising money to help families just like my own find the support and resources they need during these difficult times. Every dollar raised contributes to providing families with free resources such as one-on-one parent coaches, parent helpline counselors, and community education programs. Last year, 50,000 people lost their lives to drug overdose, and these numbers are only rising. Please consider donating and joining me to help families find the hope and healing they deserve, while spreading awareness of the devastating effects of drug use.

Partners for Hope raise critical funds on behalf of the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, the only nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families struggling with their son’s or daughter's substance use. Every dollar raised on behalf of the Partnership will ensure that their free, family support resources, including a Parent Helpline , one-to-one Parent Coaches, online tools and community education programs, can reach those who need them most. Please consider donating to this fundraiser and sharing this page.
