I have a best friend named Nicholas. We have been friends for years. It all started when he was 16. He started hanging out with the druggies of Indiana. He started smoking weed and became addicted. He would steal lie and cheat to get money. His mom is mean to him and that was his excuse. But it didn't help as soon as his mom found out he was smoking she got worse. He stole a car and spent some time in juvi He started doing cocaine and joined a gang. He got multiple tattoos and continued his thug way of life. By this time he cheated everyone and a lot of people didn't like him. Then being 17 he robbed a man at gun point and went a couple weeks in jail.it would mean a lot to me if this was posted. I have been in love with him for 2 years and I want the best for him *sorry for any spelling errors:)

Great article Jeff. Many teens face issues in regards to drinking, especially around their senior year and right into college. The City of Denver's program, Denver RAP has started to pass around pamphlets that will help parents decide how to bring up the issue of drinking to their teens. One of the largest issues in high school is the alcohol that they come in contact with during their four years in school. The oragnization that I work with has designed this packet of information on how to bring up the issue of drinking with your teen. I have attached the link so you and other bloggers can go to the site and see if the packet is useful to you. http://www.denvergov.org/DenverHumanServices/Community/OfficeofDrugStrategy/tabid/441518/Default.aspx The Parent Toolkit allows parents to read over ways to bring up the topic in a safe and educational manner. Check it out and let me know what you think, any feedback is welcome. Natriece

Jeff -- Right on Target. The most powerful data to me come from The Harvard School of Public Health College Alcohol Study. Seventy-five percent (75%) of college binge drinkers were high school binge drinkers. Let's have our kids take their values (and ours) with them to college. http://www.cspinet.org/booze/collfact.htm
