Whose Will

Author Willie Harris was born in Carrollton, Georgia in 1965, the youngest child of Willie Harris Sr. and Betty J. McCoy Harris. Most of his childhood was spent in rural West Georgia, where green pastures stretched for miles and farm animals roamed free were just as common as the family dog. On the outside looking in, life for Willie and his two brothers and sister seemed relatively normal, but that wasn??t the whole story.
Poverty and dysfunctional parents crippled the Harris household. His alcoholic father violently abused his mother nearly killing her twice. Concerned about her four children, Willie??s mom finally found the courage to leave her abusive husband.? Willie??s parents divorced when he was 10 years old. At 14, Willie??s unstable relationship with his stepfather caused him to return to his father. Uninterested in being a full-time father, Willie??s dad often left him home alone for days at a time. He preferred the company of his female acquaintances to the companionship of his young son.? With the absence of adult supervision, Willie began hanging out with some of the bad boys in his community. Their negative influence pushed Willie into drinking, smoking and partying all the time.
At the age of 18, Willie??s life began to spiral out of control as drugs and alcohol began to dominate his existence. Life on the streets began eating at Willie??s core. When Willie was propositioned with prostitution he knew he couldn??t continue living his life the way he had been.? It was at this point that he found the courage to live. Willie used the greatest challenge of his life to fight the addiction that plagued him for more than 10 years.
On October 26, 1996 Michele Moy and Willie Harris were married.? They have two beautiful children.? An entrepreneur at heart, Willie began a janitorial services business which he operates today.
Willie??s inspiration for his current book, Whose Will came after reflecting on how he successfully overcame adversity. He believed that his life story could encourage others to command their destiny and take control of their lives. Willie is now actively involved in his church, Atlanta??s Changing A Generation Ministries and a much sought after motivational speaker and community mentor.
Willie says,?? I am an ordinary person who decided to become an extraordinary man of God. I believe anyone can do the same.??
