IT'S NOT IMPOSSIBLE
IT'S NOT IMPOSSIBLE
Eventually 19 of the 40 members became addicted to oxycontin which lead to heroin addiction and cocaine addiction when they couldn't get prescription drugs.? In the case of my son, he hid the addiction, as to did other members of the fraternity very well for the most part.? My son, maintained a full time job, grades were OK initially, etc.? By the end of his junior year, the addiction became too much.? Grades slipped, he lost his job, switch majors and schools and eventually admitted to his problem...not until he had totalled his car (no one seriously injured thank god) and dropped out of school.
The next seven months were a battle he returned home and refused to go to an organized treatment program.? Being a former teacher and coach, it was heartbreaking for me to watch and listen to the ongoing battle.? He would go days without then have relapses.? He would have body drenching sweats and muscle tightness but continued to deal on his own and refuse organized help.? Listening to him toss, turn, and pray out loud at night for the symptoms of withdrawl to end were almost too much for a parent to bear.
I want to say to everyone there is HOPE, there is SUPPORT, and there can be SUCCESS.? My son has been CLEAN for over two years and he accomplished this virtually on his own terms.? He never went to an an organized program but did have support of friends, family, and GOD.? He is now involved in organized law inforcement, and hopefully provides encouragement and support to those who are addicted that he comes across in his job.
He is slowly getting his life back on track and hopefully will go back someday to finish his degree.? He realizes , as do ALL ADDICTS, that it is a day to day challenge and he works to meet that challenge.
IT IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE...as long as the DESIRE is there.
Thanks for reading and go luck with your endeavours.
