I'm a 54 year old mother of two: a 36 year old son and a 32 year old daughter. I also have 9 grandchildren. I've been blessed to have 19 years clean from crack. I smoked crack for 10 years. My ex-husband introduced it to me. There's an old saying in the "dope community". You only achieve two highs; your first and your last. That has never been so true. My first time was magic or so I thought. I missed so much of my kids lives. But regret means you're still in the past and I'm not there. My prayer to God was simple and short. "Lord, if you take the taste of crack away from me this day, I won't smoke again". That was it, aside from the fact that I was sitting in the back of police car. I'd never been arrested. But there are people who wonder how I can stay clean for 19 years. Simple. God!! I have an EXCELLENT support network. I used to attend NA meetings but I stopped going. The prayers of my family and friends keep me going not to forget about my church family as well. I'm blessed beyond measure and I hope my story will be an inspiration to those still in the grip of addiction. There is a way out. God is waiting on you to take the first step.?
