Maniac to Saneiac

Maniac to Saneiac

My name is LeeRoy and I am an addict. My diseased was cultured at a young age. I was molested when I was 11 & raped at 13. Smoking weed and selling crank took away some of my pain but my real rush was the gangster lifestyle to strike against a system that didnt protect me. After commiting to each and every level of the juvinile system I graduated to prison at the age of 17 with the highest level of security score. June 4, 2004 I last paroled with $200 and a 4 year old daughter. I single fathered for 7 years. February 17th 2007 I was spun out, my daughter and I homeless, moneyless and spiritually bankrupt. When I had paroled I met a friend in anger management that had told me about NA. So that last night spun I made a decision and contacted that friend. Tomorrow I cellebrate 6 years clean and more recovery than I ever felt I deserved. My life is far from perfect, I still have life to live each day, but I do it clean. No matter what. I want that addict that suffers to know you are loved. You are worth it. I pray the day will come that you also will find serenity.

LeeRoy, Congratulations on your 8 years of recovery! Your story is very inspiring. Thank you for sharing. A father in recovery and working a program is the best gift you could ever give your daughter. What you have overcome is amazing and you are proof that it can happen!
