The struggle

It started when I was a teenager. I was doing every drug I could get my hands on. It really went bad when I was 18 and i started to use heroin. I struggled for 5 years off and on while trying rehab and other programs but it didnt work until 2 years ago. I had a very strong support system in place but it took everyone saying no to me and facing jail time that I finally gave up on the drugs and started working on myself. My brother is still battling addiction and is in jail right now. I have so much more to live for and I actually enjoy myself and others today. I am in a healthy relationship with my fiance and have a job that I've held for almost two years now. I had to get away from everyone and everything that was part of that life which was harder than I could have imagined. But it was the only way. I hope that someone can find hope in what I've written and know that if I can do it then anyone can. Thanks for letting me share.
