I took my life back from drugs

I took my life back from drugs

I grew up living on the streets with a mother that used every drug under the sun. I was around 17yrs old when I started smoking crack with my mom. At 19 I had 2 daughters was living in a tent by the freeway with my daughters, mom and a group of homeless people. We were shooting up heroin. I had to sell myself sexually to pay for our drugs. My mom would panhandle for money. My kids were taken by cps. I ended up having 2 more boys who I used drugs with while pregnant. They were taken from the hospital. I was in and out of jail and prison. It wasn't 'til I was arrested on Jan 18 2009 that I found out I was pregnant while in jail. I started bleeding while in jail so they took me to the hospital. It was there that I found out I was having twins. When I told my family they wanted me to end my pregnancy because they didn't think I could stop using drugs. I chose to give birth and stayed clean while pregnant. Even so I had already lost 4 kids to the state. When they were born they tested negative for drugs. But because of my past cps also took them from the hospital. I was lucky enough that all my kids were taken in by family. I am still clean from drugs. I don't get to see my twins much but when they're able to understand I want them to know I'm clean because of them.
