My beloved 16 yr old son

My beloved 16 yr old son

My story will be brief, i wish i could say it is a story of hope for the addict, but this is more about hope for the addict's Mother. My precious son learned drug addiction from a very close family member and was encouraged to take a pill if he wanted to (narcotic prescriptions belonging to this other individual) by the time my son was 15 he was an addict and he struggled trying to quit, was in two outpatient drug programs, counseling, and I tried everything i knew to help him. Sadly i lost my son to drugs when he was 3 months shy of being 17 yrs old (it was an accidental overdose from narcotics that belonged to an adult, the aforementioned person). I raised him in a total drug and alcohol free environment at our home, and losing my one and only son is the greatest tragedy and heartbreak i have ever experienced. But, the hope i have found is knowing God. Yes, had it not been for God's love and help I would not have sustained this heartbreak. My number one encouragement to folks is 'don't get started using drugs or alcohol'. And if you are struggling to quit using, please don't give up hope, please, please get help to stop so you can live and have a blessed life. I have never seen drugs or alcohol benefit or help anyone, just kill them, albeit either physically, spiritually, emotionally, or relationally. May this brief story touch someone's heart in some way to encourage them to live and not die. (both addict and/or parent(s)

Sincerely, Eva

I am so, so very sorry for the loss of your son. Mine too is a drug addict, who discovered it in the military, went AWOL and it all spiralled down from there - I don't know where he is or if he is alive. This is such a horrible, destructive disease - just heartbreaking. I pray that these young people find a way to get treatment to live their lives without drugs.
