I never imagined

I never imagined

It all started in 2006 I was a standout football player and while practicing I dislocated my shoulder. I went to the hospital and they prescribed me hydrocodone. After that I dislocated my shoulder over 50 times so I stayed in pain. Then came 5 shoulder surgeries. I started taking the pills for the pain then it turned into something else. I begin taking up to 40 pain pills a day. I was buying them off the street. Then I found OxyContin and dilaudids, a not so friend showed me how to shoot them up and once I felt that feeling I couldn't move without being high. There's more to my story but I'll fast forward. Finally in 2009 my mom saw something was wrong. I broke down and told her I was an addict. That was a Friday, on Sunday I was in rehab in Memphis. The whole time in rehab I was planning my relapse. Finally after a month I was discharged. I came home still not knowing what to expect but I literally took it one second at a time. I've been clean for 4 years and I love life. I share this story to let people know addiction has no face and that anybody can have this disease. If you're reading this and an addict or in recovery my advice to you is to literally take it a second at a time- a minute is too long sometimes.
