When I lost everything and my hopelessness was too much I turned to the wonderful ministry of NuWay Christian Recovery. Being part of the first class of addicts and alcoholics to go thru NuWay's recovery program was a challenge. As with starting any program there is bound to be problems that arise, and we had our share. But there was also an awesome sense of community and strength from the recovering addicts I was living with. Most had been to prison, like myself, and were just looking for hope and encouragement anywhere we could find it. I found a mentor and started the 12 steps. I got a sponsor and began the long road to healing in my own soul and also the family I had forgotten while wrapped in my addiction. It hurt to see how angry and bitter the drugs had made me. As of today I can say that I am proudly 14 months clean from any drugs and have the awesome people at Nuway to thank for saving my life and giving me the hope to fight another day clean and sober. I am blessed to be involved in such an awesome ministry and thankful to Lewis Bailey and Jon Nagel and the awesome people at Fortsonia Baptist Church for their undying support and strength they showed me at my lowest point. Without God's love and their miraculous support I would be nothing.
