My name is Tania... and I am an addict

My name is Tania and i am an addict.

I have been clean for a little over a month. I had a recent relapse on 11/28/12. Before that I?had 9 months off?of heroin and meth.

I'm fighting the fight, I urge all of you to do the same. You're all worth it.

A year ago today I was in jail on 7 felonies. By the grace of god I was selected among many others for a program called drug court instead of 72 months in prison. I had nothing to lose at this point. I'd lost my marriage, my two daughters and my job. I was in school to become an RN and dropped out. My family had cut me off and I was homeless. No car, no real friends. So I opted in with NO desire to quit -- caught in the obsession that comes with addiction.

Drug court shipped me off to 90 days of in-patient rehab which I only completed 30 days of.

If you would have told me a year ago that I would be sitting in my mom's living room with my daughter waiting for dinner to be ready, with my own car in the driveway and my daughter setting the table, no warrants, a job, and about to graduate drug court -- I would have said you were high.

I'm am so grateful for everything in my life and all the hard work to get to where I am today.?For all the newcomers: just keep coming back. Keep fighting. You will be amazed where you can be a year from now.
