Caroline Santangelo

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I am very excited to announce that I will be running the NYC Marathon with Partnership to End Addiction!

As many of my close family and friends know I have been an avid runner for a few years and am often sporting the message that "It is a great day to be ALIVE" while I am running. Whether that is on casual runs with friends, events where I am raising money for charities, or out on my own daily jog. It is a great day to be alive means that no matter what you are going through, there is always something bigger than yourself. Running for me is a constant reminder to give back, pay it forward, and to be grateful for what you do have.

When applying to run as a Partner for Hope I filled out the entire application and I waited. I waited days before I even submitted the form. Because for me and for many, addiction is a difficult topic. But that is exactly why this organization is so important. My Grandfather (Grampy) was a father, a husband, a grampy, a friend, a brother, an engineer, a craftsman, a US Air Force and Korean War veteran, and so much more. He also struggled with alcoholism and was open about his addiction. He often talked about his addiction, because he struggled with it but also because he wanted to help others learn about addiction and mentor others to overcome it rather than letting it define them. He celebrated over 33 years of sobriety. He was a beautiful voice of advocacy in his own way and every time I think about him, I still feel so proud of all he overcame and had to overcome every day which is what led me to submitting my application for this organization. I want to continue spreading awareness like my grandfather did and help raise funds to help others get the support they need.

Over 46 million Americans struggle with substance use disorder. By donating you are helping to transform how our nation addresses addiction by empowering families, advancing effective care, shaping public policy and changing culture.

Please consider donating to support the Partnership to End Addiction and help families find guidance and hope. Support comes in so many forms. Be kind. Be forgiving. Be inviting. And remember, it is a great day to be alive!
