In memory of Mychal Meyer

Addiction is a complex disease that takes lives, damages individuals, families, communities, our nation and world. I want anybody that reaches this page to understand that it is preventable and treatable and more needs to be done in those areas.
For every $100 spent by state governments on substance abuse and addiction, the average spent on prevention, treatment and research was $2.38
My hope is that more and more people become advocates, share stories (so many people lost loved ones to addiction and I had no idea) talk about it, be empowered to find out where your community is spending money to prevent and treat, volunteer, sponsor someones treatment, donate, Don't judge, encourage family to seek help to cope it is a very scary, helpless and lonely place to be.
As I grieve the loss of my brother I am feeling called to serve others in any way I can. Starting this fundraiser is my first step.
My brother at his best loved so deeply. He would have done anything for his family. He looked out for me and my boys and my mom. He was helpful even to strangers and would talk to anyone and start a conversation.
He lived with me for several months and I got to know who my brother really was I saw his goodness, goofiness, thoughtfulness and generosity. His laugh, sweet text messages, hugs, silly sayings, coffee runs, and car ride music parties will never EVER be forgotten.
He was a hard worker and could tell you exactly the best day to get Mc Donald's french fries if he was doing the maintenance there (there really is a difference) he would bring home as many McDonald's toys as possible and created a McDonald's monster in Owen that I will now embrace lol
He loved music; classic rock, hip hop, rap, country, his favorite Starbucks drink was a white mocha with honey, his favorite dish I made was Chicken Alfredo and he always told me I had to open a restaurant and call it Mel's Diner. We prayed at the dinner table together, he loved when the bus driver would turn off the lights in the bus in the morning at sunrise while driving past the lake on his way to work and he would send me pictures, he gave the greatest hugs, he loved snuggling with his little nephew, helping his older nephew with car stuff. He was so proud of his nephews.
He was a great step dad and loved his little girl so much.
I want to remember my brother happy, healthy and feeling love!
He has risen to the place of everlasting peace. So many prayers were said, he is no longer suffering and for that I am grateful.
