In memory of Benjamen Dice

Benjamen Dice

My son was an excellent basketball player in high school and had the opportunity to play college ball as a six foot six inch point guard. He taught himself how to frame houses at the age of 15 and ended up with his own company, building houses high in the mountains of Colorado. Benji was tall, handsome and well-liked. Over 500 people showed up at his funeral and many traveled great distances to pay their last respects as he had done many good deeds for others and helped many who were down on their luck. He moved back here in 2005 and started a company specializing in home remodeling. He took me out to dinner on Father's Day and when we left the restaurant he gave me a hug and told me he loved me. The next day I got a call from the coroner at 2 A.M. in the morning. Benji had been robbed and murdered attempting to purchase illegal drugs. The shock of his needless and senseless death carried out in such a cruel and vicious manner over a small amount of money has produced nothing but severe depression for me and other members of his family. The ‘why?' questions keep coming up over and over again; the result is always the same.
