33 years ago, I gave birth to a healthy baby boy.  I named my baby boy Michael.

Throughout everything we went through, Michael and I and his little brother were a team.

At 2:57 am on November 22, 2008, I got the call that no one ever wants. My son had overdosed on heroin and was in route to the hospital. I honestly cannot remember much of what happened after that initial phone call. However, I remember when they said, "He is gone." That one thing is burned into my brain for all the rest of my life.

Heroin had taken away my son.
