In memory of Philip Helland

Created by Family Of Philip Helland

Philip Helland

I am Philip's mother Linda, and I represent his family. Philip started smoking pot in middle school. He was a gentle soul and lived a simple life. Philip wanted to be an organic farmer. He enjoyed hiking and camping in the desert and was concerned about our planet. Philip identified with the 1960's and the Hippie movement. He liked the Beatles and the Doors, and wrote poetry and lyrics. Philip was attracted to LSD, Mescaline and Mushrooms. The drugs distorted his reality, and he became paranoid. On April 09, 2010, Philip and a friend drove off road for target shooting. While behind a tree and without warning, Philip put the shotgun in his mouth and pulled the trigger. He died instantly. I was advised after midnight that my son took his own life. His body was at the Coroner's Office, and we buried him. Philip wants to warn you: The Doors of Perception are The Doors of Deception. Acid Dreamsare Acid Nightmares. We are our brother's keeper: Step up. Speak out. Offer help. Tell someone.
