we met in high school. from the beginning everybody knew we weren't good for each other. suffice to say we made our own choices as we merrily strolled down the path of self destruction. of our 20 year friendship?, the last ten years were living hell on both of us and our families. at the end i was 3000 miles away when he died alone. at his grave i made a silent promise to him not to end my life in the same way. it took a few months to get there, but i stopped, and in his honor, and memory, i never ever looked back. i am truly one of the lucky ones, and i am proud to have had the priviledge of knowing him. i miss you more than you will ever know my friend. i doubt i will ever let myself feel the same way about anyone. you remain a bright light in a very dark world. i hope we will see each other again in a place where no shadows fall.
