In memory of John Byrne

Created by Family Of John Byrne

John Byrne

Good, generous, gentle and kind, John was loved by many. A talented electrician, he was proud to have worked on many of the largest and most significant construction projects in New York City, including the New Yankee Stadium along-side his younger brother Joe.

Alcohol was John's challenge and it eventually took his life. John was benefitted greatly by the alcohol abuse program at Sierra Tucson. For the first time in his life, John reflected on who he was and what he wanted. He felt healthy. He emerged a changed man, having come to understand not only his addiction, but his enormous worth to so many who loved him. He became an active member of AA. His family is grateful for the care he received at Sierra Tucson and the support he received at AA.

Despite finally giving up alcohol for good, John succumbed to liver disease on April 20. This memorial will hopefully help another family find the right treatment for their loved one.
