In memory of Corey Sparks

Corey Sparks

My beautiful son and only child lost his battle with addiction last September. I watched him struggle with his addiction for almost 8 years. In and out of rehab only to watch him self destruct. Then my worst fear, the call in the middle of the night from intensive care unit telling me to rush to the hospital. All my hopes and dreams for him gone. He never got married, never graduated from college and had no children. I feel like what a loss, he had so much potential to be something great. For myself I lost myself that day too and can't seem to find my way back from this. He was the love of my life, my pride and joy. For other parents going through this, I agonize with you. I feel the pain will never go away and my heart will never heal and I know there are many other parents who feel this same way. Someone has to help save this generation of young adults.

Corey was a part of my life for 7 years. I was with him and his mother through all his struggles. It breaks my heart as an adult I couldnt help him more. I experienced his pain first hand. When he lost his battle with addiction we lost the battle too. Corey was a wonderful caring person and so intelligent just haunted by the past and couldnt move forward but what a loss of a human life at such a young age. As for my wife I watch her slowly grieving herself to death losing her only child.

Thank you. Sometimes just being able to express how you feel to people in similar situations helps me to heal.
