After a divorce, getting laid off, and closing on a house in a 3-day span, my functioning alcoholism fell off a cliff.
4 years and 3 treatment centers later, I'm closing in on 2 years sober. Great job, great kids, great family and a feeling I can't describe. Several times during the day, I feel peace, happiness, it gives me the chills. Just the trees, air, birds, sun, rain, it doesn't matter. I truly feel like I've been blessed with a new and better life.
AA, where I thought all the losers and homeless hung out, I absolutely love. People are great. I want to help others and I pray for others now. It's a joy and a freedom and a blessing that I'd like to be able to bottle up and give to the struggling addict or alcoholic.
Give it a chance!! It truly is a MIRACLE.
