Moving on.

I was 17 when I started using cocaine and I was addicted instantly. I was 18 when I began noticing my drinking problem and 19 when I started using heroin. I had a boyfriend who was an addict and a very bad influence on me. I knew it wasn't the life I wanted, and after over 2 years together I left him to get clean. It's been 6 months since I've used at all and I wouldn't be alive today if i wouldn't have left the situation I was in.

This Story of Hope was created in celebration of recovery and to let families know that there are pathways to hope and healing. The Partnership for Drug-Free Kids is the only nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families who are struggling with their son or daughter's substance use. Please consider sharing this page so that families know where to turn to for help, and that there is always hope.
