My mother was a crack whore

My mother was a crack whore

25 years ago my beautiful mother had a whale of a child. I was on drugs since the day I was born. My mother was a crack whore. I was taken away from my mother and put in an orphanage. I was considered a crack baby. When I was four I was officially off all forms of drugs. When I was 18 I started to shoot up meth. I started to do meth because I was teased about my weight. I was hoping to get down to 100 pounds, but no matter how much meth I took I still weighed 284 pounds. I meet my real mother at 19. She was clean now. She inspired me to go to rehab. I am now 25 years old and clean.

This Story of Hope was created in celebration of recovery and to let families know that there are pathways to hope and healing. The Partnership for Drug-Free Kids is the only nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families who are struggling with their son or daughter's substance use. Please consider sharing this page so that families know where to turn to for help, and that there is always hope.
