In Memory of Devon Barry

Heather Barry

Heather Barry

In December 2021, my mother found my 39-year-old brother deceased in his apartment. For the entirety of his adult life he fought with addiction, and although we initially thought Covid may be to blame, it was confirmed that the toxic effects of methamphetamine (along with chronic ethanol abuse) was the cause of death. He deserved so much more happiness in life than he got. So many of us who loved him felt, and continue to feel, a level of helplessness and so I sought out an opportunity that would hopefully help me to feel that I am doing something, however small, to  help others who are living the same battle he did.  We love you, Devon.

Members of our Partners for Hope Endurance Teams help amplify our lifesaving work to empower families supporting a loved one struggling with addiction. Our team members are passionate individuals competing in celebration of recovery, in memory of a loved one lost to addiction, as well as those advocating for change. No matter your reason for running, cycling or participating in these iconic events, every stride you take and every dollar raised benefits the families we serve.

Partners for Hope raise critical funds on behalf Partnership to End Addiction – the nation’s leading organization dedicated to addiction prevention, treatment and recovery. Every dollar raised on behalf of the Partnership* will help ensure free, personalized family support resources, including our national helpline, peer-to-peer parent coaching, customized online tools and community education programs, can reach those who need them most. Please consider donating to this fundraiser and sharing this page.
