Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! For those of you who do not know me, my name is Juliana Girling. I am so excited to say I will be running the 2024 NYC Marathon with the Partnership to End Addiction team! Addiction is something I have witnessed first hand throughout my life and it has affected me in more ways than one. But I am just one of so many. Addiction is the third largest cause of death and affects more than 40 million Americans each year, not including their families. Addiction does not discriminate and can happen to anyone. As a school psychologist I unfortunately see how addiction affects the lives of my students, whether it’s a family member struggling or they themselves turning to substances to cope. My heart breaks when I hear them say, “but why can’t they just stop? Why won’t they?” I remember growing up and feeling like that, so helpless to this disease. Partnership to End Addiction is an organization that works towards helping families get exactly what they need to overcome these obstacles and empowers them along the way. They provide resources that families may not even be aware of or can afford and it is an organization I am so proud to be a part of. I am running this race with the goal and hope to raise money and awareness that will aid in their mission to end this national crisis. The hope that one day there will be more resources available for addicts and their families. The hope that one day that these resources will be more accessible and successful in their recovery. I am running for hope.
