This year, I'm running the NYC TCS marathon with Partnership to End Addiction. This organization is very close to my heart, as I lost my brother to his addiction just over one year ago. Addiction is a disease that affects the whole family. Unfortunately, one in three families are impacted by addiction in the United States, and last year alone, 295 people died every day from overdoses in our country. Partnership to End Addiction is the nation’s leading nonprofit organization serving families impacted by substance use, which is why I am so proud and honored to be running for this cause.
May 5th would have been Kevin's 32nd birthday. It also marks exactly 6 months until the marathon. Although I do not think he would EVER want to run a marathon, running has helped me greatly in my grieving process. Running with Partners for Hope allows me to give back to an organization that helps individuals and families struggling with issues I know well and am passionate about.
Kevin was a very talented musician, and played with numerous bands on the guitar and drums throughout his life. Although any monetary donation is greatly appreciated, his memory lives on through his music.
